The Ghetto Gospel...poem

As I cruise through Phoenix like Jesus through Jerusalem
As if my people were Jewish, I came to speak the truth to them
Use'n slang hangin' amongst the youngsters I be schoolin' them
Watching the other foolish youth become-

What they consider a thug, the definition of gangsta
Use'n liquor and drugs, hesitant yet anxious
Influenced by the chronic smoke'n
Use'n fluent ebonics spoke when-representing our language

Watching Scarface our dreams inspired by Italians
The last supper drinking red wine by the gallons
Swine leather seats, diamonds in medallions
A black Edgar Allen expressing his special talents

Or maybe this young brothers just another
Langston Hughes with his gangsta's blues
Not a stranger to struggle, accustom to hustle'n
Showing no love to those judging him

Late News is New News...

Ok, so today I am barely finding out about the Oscar Grant shooting. I know, I'm late but the story is still a shocker. It almost reminds me of All Star Weekend in Vegas. Yea, I was there! I was arrested twice in 3 days...I'm no criminal though (contrary to popular belief and urban legend...all rappers are NOT criminals) Anywho...The first time was because I started roasting the police officer who asked me and my friends to move, he then came charging after me like a bull for a red hankerchief. I was thrown face down on the cold pavement and carried away by 3 officers and then shoved in a patty wagon! Yea I had a little bit to drink but c'mon now... 3 officers??? Yea I know! Now I could see if I was Lebron James's size...I was taken on the charges of indecent conduct and throwing up gang signs. So people be careful when you throw up a peace sign in Vegas, it's obviously treated as a gang sign now. Damn those hippies!!!! Now that I think of it, I threw up 2 of them!!! Double duces! LOL...Anyway, 2nd night was for blocking a side walk...Please, lets not go into that. I say all that to say, law enforcement is still brutal. Not only is race a prime factor in the prejudice here, but age as well. I believe that we as young adults are treated unfairly because of our age. It's sad. There's more I can say about these matters but I will let them rest for now.
