The Ghetto Gospel...poem

As I cruise through Phoenix like Jesus through Jerusalem
As if my people were Jewish, I came to speak the truth to them
Use'n slang hangin' amongst the youngsters I be schoolin' them
Watching the other foolish youth become-

What they consider a thug, the definition of gangsta
Use'n liquor and drugs, hesitant yet anxious
Influenced by the chronic smoke'n
Use'n fluent ebonics spoke when-representing our language

Watching Scarface our dreams inspired by Italians
The last supper drinking red wine by the gallons
Swine leather seats, diamonds in medallions
A black Edgar Allen expressing his special talents

Or maybe this young brothers just another
Langston Hughes with his gangsta's blues
Not a stranger to struggle, accustom to hustle'n
Showing no love to those judging him
